One expensive sandwich.
Most of us could find a ton of things to spend $148 on; airfare, nice hotels, maybe some new clothes. One thing we probably wouldn't think of spending that entire amount on is a sandwich. Thanks though, to the restaurant at Selfridges, a luxury department store in London, we now have that option. Should we choose to enter the world of the completely insane, that is.
So what goes on a $148 sandwich. Well, let's see, first they start off with sourdough bread, which takes about 24 hours or so to make. (Let's not forget the labor cost associated with that.) Then comes the mayonnaise flavored with foie gras. The toppings; cherry tomatoes, rocket, roasted red peppers and Brie de Maeux, which is expensive in its own right.
Lastly comes the piece de resistance, Wagyu beef. This is apparently some of the most flavorful beef in the world. It comes from Japan and contains more marbling than average beef, which supposedly enhances the flavor. Apparently beef is one thing the Japanese haven't made smaller, faster or cheaper.
So, there you have it, $148 and I bet they still charge you for water.
